WA: Casino refuses to pay out $224,000 win
A young woman plans to sue Perth's Burswood Casino for refusing to pay out a $224,000
blackjack win.
PETA PILLAGE, aged 24, was dealt a jackpot hand of four black aces during a blackjack
game at the casino in June.
But after being congratulated and sent to collect her prize, she was told the game was invalid.
Ms PILLAGE says the casino told her a video of the game showed one of the players had
not been dealt a card, rendering the outcome invalid.
She says the game had been stopped some time before she won, after a player told the
dealer he'd missed out on a card.
But the game had been restarted again after the man decided not to pay for the card,
and to sit out that game.
After the game had been restarted one of the other players won a jackpot and was paid
before Ms PILLAGE finally aced the $224,000 prize.
Ms PILLAGE and her lawyer are investigating the options of suing the casino for the
lost winnings.
Burswood Managing Director JOHN SHARPE says the casino is obliged to abide by a strict
set of rules which govern the play of games.
