Fed: Air traffic controllers to stopwork on Friday
Weekend travel plans could be upset with air traffic controllers set to walk off thejob for five hours on Friday.
Civil Air, the union representing more than 1,100 air traffic controllers, says memberswill stop work nationwide from 5pm (AEST) to 10pm on Friday.
Plans for a stopwork meeting were called off last month.
But Civil Air secretary PETER MCGUANE says talks with employer Air Services Australiahave again broken down.
The parties have been in negotiation over a new workplace agreement since February last year.
Mr MCGUANE says sticking points include fatigue and personal leave issues, and recognitionof the job's responsibilities.
He says air traffic controllers have endured a two-year wage freeze despite Air ServicesAustralia reporting healthy profits.
The industrial action follows two strikes in the past month by more than 6,000 AustralianServices Union members over a long-running dispute with Qantas over wages and conditions.
